Acquiring the experience of Rēzekne Special Economic Zone Authority in administration of state aid, on January 26th delegation of Latvian School of Public Administration visited Rēzekne SEZ. In comparison with the special economic zones I had turned to, before making the final decision where to start up a business, RSEZ Authority was very responsive and helpful. The Authority provided a feedback that is important to any entrepreneur.
My former experience of doing business in Latvia and other countries proves that there is both the necessity and opportunity to establish a large scale logistics park near the EU border with Russia. Rail connection is an essential part of such an operation and therefore Rēzekne was the best option.
When the decision to build a wood pellet plant in Latvia was made, the decision to locate that plant in Rēzekne City was made for a number of compelling reasons. Firstly, with Rēzekne being in a special economic zone, this provided good business incentives that will enhance our return on investment.
