Three day training on sustainable urban planning took place in Lithuania

On 24 to 26 July, a three-day training course on sustainable territorial and urban planning took place in Visaginas (Lithuania) as a part of the LLI-386 “Trans-Form” project. Specialists of Rēzekne SEZ administration, representatives of municipalities of Panevezys, Visaginas, Rēzekne, Krāslava, Rēzekne county, as well as three specialists from Daugavpils City Council participated in the training.
The Municipality of Visaginas, in cooperation with the leading partner of the project Euroregion "Land of Lakes", organised a training session on the importance of sustainable urban planning, the development of territorial planning documents and the importance of control and monitoring of territorial planning. Živile Šimkute, co-founder of “MASH studio”, an architecture and urbanisation company specialising in sustainable territorial and urban planning, Martynas Marozas, representative of the company MMAP, specialising in planning and development processes, Dalia Bardauskiene, architectural and territorial planning advisor to the chairman of Vilnius, Donatas Baltrušaitis and Agne Dailidaite, representatives of the company “Bauland”, that specialises in the strategic urban planning processes and methods, shared their experience during the training.
Specialists from Latvia and Lithuania had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of strategic urban planning, as well as to learn about a new tool for urban planning and public consultation - a simulation board game. The experience of the city of Visaginas in the revitalisation of brownfields was also acquainted.
The total amount of funding allocated by the European regional development Fund is 442 296,58 euros.
