In festive event on January 13th LIAA Rēzekne Business Incubator was opened, where hereafter entrepreneurs and authors of business ideas will be able to receive support for starting their business. Rēzekne Business Incubator will also become cooperation partner of Rēzekne SEZ, as both organizations are providing support for the development of entrepreneurship in Rēzekne and Rēzekne Municipality.

As every year, alongside exhibition-fair “Rēzekne Entrepreneur 2016”, on November 25, 2016 Rēzekne City Municipality presented awards “Rēzekne Enterprise of the Year” to the best and most successful enterprises of Rēzekne city. This year award in nomination “The Best Enterprises of RSEZ” was granted to Rēzekne SEZ enterprise “Energy Resources CHP” RSEZ SIA (previously “Atmosclear CHP” RSEZ SIA).

Awaiting centennial of the Congress of Latgale, on November 25, 2015 Discussion Forum “Sustainability Dimensions of Latvia – educated people and preservation of environmental values” took place in Rēzekne Academy of Technologies (RTA). Within the framework of Discussion Forum representatives of state and municipality institutions, as well as researchers and representatives of NGOs discussed questions related to education and environmental sustainability, which lay in the basis of sustainable development of Latvia in the future.

On November 4 – 6 Rēzekne SEZ Authority participated in 16+1 Business Forum in Riga, which took place within the framework of Summit of the Heads of the Governments of Central and Eastern European countries and China or 16+1 cooperation format. Promoting mutual cooperation with China in areas of investment attraction and logistics, participants of 16+1 Business Forum had a chance to attend panel discussions on important topics in the field of economic cooperation between China and Europe, as well as to participate in “B2B” meetings.

Upon invitation of Administration of Free Economic Zone “Gomel-Raton”, on October 12 – 13 representatives of Rēzekne SEZ Authority participated in event “Business Days in Gomel” organized by Belarus Chamber of Trade and Commerce and Free Economic Zone “Gomel-Raton”. Within the framework of the event representatives of Rēzekne SEZ Authority had an opportunity to visit the exhibition in order to get introduced to business environment in Gomel and products produced in the region, as well as to participate in the Business forum, in order to establish new contacts and promote further cooperation.

Representatives of Rezekne SEZ Authority Supervisory Board and Executive institution on October 4 – 6 visited Republic of Belarus, to acquire new experience in investment attraction and functioning of special economic zones as well as to get acquainted with newest development tendencies in area of transport and logistics. In scope of the visit the representatives of Rezekne SEZ visited International Exhibition "Transport and Logistics”, as well as FEZ “Vitebsk”, FEZ “Minsk” and China-Belarus Industrial Park “Great Stone”.

Authority of Rezekne SEZ and several Rezekne SEZ enterprises on September 23 and 24 participated in the exhibition “Days of Entrepreneurs in Latgale 2016” that was organized by Latvian Chamber of Trade and Commerce in cooperation with Rezekne City Council and Latgale Region Development Agency.

On August 12, 2016 RSEZ granted awards to the winners of RSEZ Enterprise Year Award competition for the fifth time. Based on the performance indicators of the enterprises from 2015, award “Company of the Year” was granted to three enterprises – to “NewFuels” RSEZ SIA and “VEREMS” RSEZ SIA in the group of large and medium-sized enterprises and to “Rēzeknes Dzirnavnieks” RSEZ AS in the group of small enterprises.

On July 29, 2016 cooperation partners of RSEZ from Vitebsk Free Economic Zone and Vitebsk City Executive Committee visited RSEZ, in order to discuss further cooperation possibilities and mutually exchange the experience.
