16+1 Business Forum – opportunity to establish closer cooperation with China
On November 4 – 6 Rēzekne SEZ Authority participated in 16+1 Business Forum in Riga, which took place within the framework of Summit of the Heads of the Governments of Central and Eastern European countries and China or 16+1 cooperation format. Promoting mutual cooperation with China in areas of investment attraction and logistics, participants of 16+1 Business Forum had a chance to attend panel discussions on important topics in the field of economic cooperation between China and Europe, as well as to participate in “B2B” meetings.
More than 300 entrepreneurs from China, as well as business man and high ranking officials from 16 European countries participated in the three day long Business Forum. Panel discussions, which took place during the Business Forum, discussed questions related to several areas of economics and entrepreneurship: trade, transport and logistics, finance, tourism, industrialization and sustainable development. 16+1 Business Forum provided an opportunity for Rēzekne SEZ Authority to establish contacts with entrepreneurs and business support institutions from China and Europe, promoting further investment attraction and business development in Rēzekne SEZ.
16+1 Business Forum was especially important for the promotion of future cooperation between Latvia and China in the area of transport and logistics, supporting the creation of “New Silk Way” and implementation of “Rail Baltica” project. Initiative of “New Silk Way”, which envisages delivery of cargos from China to Europe by railway transport, as well as the development of project “Rail Baltica”, would promote development of railroad and port infrastructure in Latvia, further strengthening also growth of Rēzekne SEZ as transport and logistics centre of international importance.
